Minor Arcana · Swords
Five of Swords
A hollow, win-at-all-costs victory that leaves conflict, resentment and isolation in its wake.
Symbolism
A man with a smug, contemptuous expression gathers up swords scattered on the ground while two defeated figures walk away with slumped shoulders, heads bowed in sadness and loss. Five swords in all are present, marking a battle just ended. Above, a ragged, windswept sky with jagged clouds signals that, despite the victory, not all is well — the win came at a real cost.
